Divine Providence from Plato to Aquinas
Interdisciplinary Symposium
Aula, Blackfriars Hall, St Giles, Oxford, OX1 3LY
Tuesday, 8 December
Few concepts have exercised as much influence on Western thought as divine providence, shaping debates about divine agency, cosmic order, human freedom, and the problem of evil from antiquity onwards. Moving from ancient Greek philosophy through patristic thought to scholasticism, the symposium will trace the continuities and transformations in philosophical and theological accounts of divine providence across these traditions.
